I recently purchased a warehouse stock of round plastic frames made in the 1960's. These frames were stored in a cool dark warehouse. They are still pliable and will easily take lenses.
Round plastic frames from the 1960's tend to bend slightly out of shape because of long storage. This is common. The new round lens will reshape the plastic horn rim so that it is perfectly round. Also, the temple arms can be heated and adjusted to fit your face by any optician.
The proper procedure for shaping horn rim plastic frames is to heat the frames in a hot sand box or with a commercial hot air gun. The heat will soften the plastic so that it will take the shape required. Any attempt to bend the frames when they are cold may result in breakage.
