Steve Jobs Glasses

Antique and Retro Reproduction Round Glasses Like Those Worn by Steve Jobs

Our inventory of glasses at Eyeglasses Warehouse includes both authentic antique frames and modern retro stylish frames. One of our most popular vintage glasses are our round glasses. Initially popular as rimmed and rimless glasses between the 1880s and 1940s, Steve Jobs became associated with this look when he wore rimless Lunor round glasses throughout his career.

We sell genuine antique round glasses alongside our own line of Steve Jobs glasses made with high quality materials. All of our glasses are optical quality and ready to have the lenses replaced with your own prescription. Browse our inventory below.

About Our Steve Jobs Glasses

Steve Jobs rose to fame in the late 1970s when he co-founded Apple. With continued success with the Macintosh computer, MacBook, iPod, and iPhone, Jobs became a constant figure in the media until his death in 2011. Throughout that time, his signature look was blue jeans, a black turtleneck, and a pair of rimless Lunor glasses.

Jobs specifically wore Lunor’s classic round frame glasses with gold hardware, but his popularity in the tech world brought the antique circular lens back into style.

The earliest circular glasses made prior to 1921 had no nose pads. Instead, they used a saddle bridge, or a U-shaped metal connector between the lens wires. For this reason, they were often called “saddle bridge glasses.” The antique glasses sat close to the face to help keep them in place. They came in both rimmed and rimless styles, often with gold hardware.

Windsor glasses were a specific type of round rimmed glasses that added curved temples, known as “riding bow temples,” that were attached at the outside midpoint of the lenses. Fulvue glasses, on the other hand, placed the temple further up to allow for an unobstructed view in the periphery, which was the style Jobs wore.

When nose pads were invented in 1921, they quickly became standard on eyeglasses. Nose pads were made of pearl initially before being replaced by plastic. Rimless and rimmed glasses incorporated them, and they are common today even on vintage style glasses.
